K40 Numbers
I just placed an order for some more K40. As of 9:20 am CST, Kodak says they have around 100 rolls left at the New York location.
Interestingly enough, the rep told me Kodak expects to manufacture one more batch at least, due to high demand.
So this brings me to almost 40 rolls, not including my stash of sound carts. I'm set up for a few years at least and it gives me more than ample time to test out E64 exposure/home processing.

Or perhaps they are going to make another batch because the new stock hasn´t been as good as they expected, with jumpy images and all?
Perhaps they are not ready to release the new stock and more K40 is needed to "fill up" the abcense of usable filmstock (until they have sorted out the problems with 64T)?

i mean, what's wrong with kodak making another batch if they realize they can make money with it? todays world is all about money.

although i have the feeling that not too far back in time, when people still died of a fever and lost half of their kids due to a cold, they might have had other things to focus on in life.
stocking up is not much of an option for us here on the old continent, since processing probably will cease by the end of 2006. personally i'm looking forward to EPY anyway.

Damn straight.mik wrote:i think the "last batch" of anything is always bestseller, so i wouldnt be surprised if kodak will produce few more "last batches".
As funds permit, I've bought several loads of K40 over the last few months. Everytime I joke that the supply should be running low, the Kodak rep just laughs slyly and says not to worry.
Should I worry? Not sure. I'm loading up here out of paranoia and have the weird feeling that I'm caught up in a marketing scam. Regardless, we should focus on keeping access to processing, which seems to be the real endangered beast.

Nah, it won't be any more endangered than it already is and has been. I'm betting Dwayne's will keep processing the stuff until the last reel is done. They've no incentive not to, they're already geared up for it and have the entire market (such as it is (or isn't)) depending on them.etimh wrote: Should I worry? Not sure. This is completely unlike the Utopian paradise of fifty years ago when no one thought about money. Our ancestors were all too busy dancing through fields of flowers to worry about such mundane things. ;)christoph wrote:todays world is all about money.
