Record K40 processing time

Post by hassan »

I posted 6 carts of K40 on Friday 22 July and I got them all back today - 6 days, and to and from Iceland, the island in the middle of nowhere. Is this a record?

How timely - I'm using Dwayne's through Wal-Mart, but usually it has taken 10-11 days. My most recent batch has already been completed and will be in store either tomorrow or Friday. I dropped them off Wednesday afternoon, so it'll be either 8 or 9 days. Pretty fast...

I sent them directly to Switzerland. Incidently, if anyone is in Paris, there are some photo shops that will send K40 to Switzerland for FREE. The details are on the Swiss French Kodak website http://www.kodak.ch.

Did you send each cart separately in a yellow kodak enveloppe ? or did you send the 6 carts together in a big enveloppe ?

I just got one back after 8 days, posted to the London address on Monday and got it back Tuesday the next week.

Oddly enough I posted it one day after getting my previous roll back and that took 16 days. This latest had a flier for Schmallfilm and Small Format in it :)

Got 3 yellow envelopes this morning... posted 14 days ago.

Looking at them, looks like my Nizo Pro with K40 on auto exposure needs to be +1 stop when there is any sky in frame. The 54 fps is cr*p on auto (too dark)... will need to set manually from now on.

part of one of the carts is from 4008zm2... christ i don't use that camera enough! prob the best results on the carts...

Also some footage at REM concert at Loch Lomond (most of the footage is of Feeder on stage who were on b4 them) shot from AF310xl... everything sharp and steady, lovely reliable little point and shoot... only at tiny bit of footage is overexposed... shame i wasn't closer to the stage!! :P

My favourite is about 1 1/2 minutes of my daughter eating candy floss (cotton candy for those over the pond)... perfect exposure and focus... and hand held very well :) ... beautiful colours and a sticky face... one to show on her 21st birthday...

Happy Kodachrome Days.

*sighs* My uncle uses to say that when he in the early 80s brought his father's K40 to processing in a local Hamburg lab in the morning, he could catch up his processed reels in the same place in the afternoon same day. *sighs again*

I think each film is dealt with separatly, so they will all be sent back in separate envelopes even if you send them in one.
