REALA 500D

Post by Mystic Mot »

Hello
Did someone already use the Pro8 stock of reala 500D? and/or eterna 500T? I'm a big fan of fuji filmstock (I often use the 64D when I shoot 16mm) and want to know how it look on super8.

Regards

I have seen some shot by another cameraman. It does not hold up as well as the Kodak film. Both grainy and dirty. The film itself also seems to wobble side to side slightly (probably a problem producing even strands of film at Pro8).

In any case, I would advise going to another source for your super 8 needs. I myself have had major problems with their films in the past.

Although the Fuji Reala 500T is grainier than Vision 2 500T, I don't think there's anything inherently dirtier or more wobbly about the filmstock. I think those would be byproducts of a cartridge, lab, perforation, etc.

I don't know the latest numbers on the Eterna 500T off the top of my head, but it should be comparable grain to the Vision 2 technology.

This is true with regards to the film itself. But, the film was grainy, dirty and wobbly none-the-less.

I attribute these problems largely to pro8mm's poor quality in film conversion, processing and telecine.

You can order a demo dvd from the site. Whether the stock is on it or not, I don't know but will find out soon as it comes here as I'm interested in using this also.
