Leicina ST1 controller help?

Post by Jerseyfilm 8 »

I have just recieved my Leicina super, with the ST1 controller, all the instructions are in German, although I have already downloaded the Manual for the camera, from this site. Does anyone have english instructions for the ST1 controller, or can give me some help on what all the dials and switches mean, thanks for any help, Frank

OK - this is from memory...

There are two switches on the side you can rotate - visible on the back side.

One is for shutter duration and the other frames per second.
You select which mode you want control.
Use the knob with numbers to set.
The numbers are arbitrary. It does not really mean anything - just a scale to guide you.

the one in the bottom is my picture - actually sent by the guy who took them and sold the Leicina to me :)
I used it my Ebay auction and I started to see in other websites ;)

My local New York Camera and Video sells and services Leica cameras (though they probably would not be able to handle a S8 camera anymore). Is it possible to somehow acquire a ST-1 controller through them, or is eBay and photog sales my only hope?

I've been shooting silent films at 18 fps so far*, but I'm interested in trying time lapse and sound synch (possible with the Leicina Super only with the ST-1 Controller).

Tom

*I'm not releasing my shorts professionally; if that were the case, I'd shoot them at 24 fps. I shoot all my 16mm--which are, so far, all home movies--at 24 fps. I'm just trying to make those little 50' S8 carts last longer. Please don't lecture me on the benefits of shooting at 24 fps; I already know what those benefits are.

I have seen in some random websites. Ebay is good place to get it. It appears once in a while and most sellers claims it is in excellent condition.

Thanks for the help, but I will need more specific info, there are two dials both with numbers on, also another dial, which has a 1, 0, and a symbol of an aperture. I have the German manual for it, but would like an english version,
