Heh... I've been thinking about starting a thread just like this myself.
I'm from Kalgoorlie, WA (moving to Perth soon). I could list a few others from various states, but I'll wait and see if they want to step forward themselves first.
Melbourne (which I visited for the first time earlier this year, and loved) strikes me as a much better location than WA for Super8'ers (and film-makers in general) to be based, in terms of access to facilities.
Have you guys ever been to the Astor Theatre? I've always wanted to see a 70mm film, but they didn't have any playing when I visited.
-Bon

I'm orginally from Adelaide, I'm a mad Crow Fan, I would love to shoot some super 8 at FootyPark oneday.Patrick wrote:I'm in SA as well. Though I don't consider this state that bad for super 8! Though there used to be more facilities here for super 8 film makers not long ago.
It's not the size that counts, its what u do with it!

SOundboy I'd love to film a footy match, but smuggling a camera into the ground is near impossible, and if you do get it in, getting it confiscated would be worse...
I spoz if ya bought a cheapie at an op. shop then it would be so bad to get it confiscated.. hmm...

Cool Mark. Aussie Rules would look great on super 8 film. Actually, I did film some highlights from a game at Norwood Oval once with my Eumig Nautica. Martin, I am surprised that you would need to smuggle a camera in to a game of footy! Are they really that strict in Melbourne?
Shion, there used to be a shop here called Adelaide Movie & Hobby Center which specialised in cine equipment. It had all sorts of stuff - 16mm and super 8 cameras and projectors, film stock, package films, film leader, lubrication fluid, brand new spools, various other bits and pieces and also offered a telecine service. Actually, once in the shop window, I saw an Elmo super 8 camera with an anamorphic lens attachment. Another time there was a Canon 1014XLS which sold very quickly. The shop closed only a few years ago.
A local lab here used to develop Ektachrome 7240. The last two super 8 films that they developed belonged to me and unfortunately they did a crap job on them. The chemicals 'went off' during processing, making my films all hazy with weak colours. Ive held a deep grudge against this lab ever since.

Yeah at the G they are a pain. I remember a kid had a plastic horn and he was blowing on it. THere was no chance of it being heard by the players. It got confiscated.
I had a mate who used to do the website "from the outter"for collingwood and they used to have to smuggle in their digital camera because they almost had theirs confiscated.
i dont know if you get the stuff back. I would assume you do, but who knows with security guards

I'm here too - in Brisbane - and there's Tim as well from Brissy who breezes in from time to time - can't believe they'd confiscate a camera at the MCG like that - is it a security thing or a copyright thing? - it's kind of ironi sonce on Sports Tonight and a few other shows they often try and make some of the sports highlights look like Super 8 - it doesn't of course. I reckon cricket would look good in Super 8 - as long as your zoom is big enough and tyou could do a bit of slo mo
