i got a mamiya 8mm G from ebay a couple weeks ago andits my first 8mm camera that you dont have t owind up. it takes batterys intsead i guess. i odnt kno what kind of batteries it needs tho. it says it says dry cell and inside the battery door it says no. b- 19964. doube a batterys fit in but still nothing works when i put some in. also there is a handle that it came with and there is a battery compartment in that it says dry unit 3 batterys. there is also a roll of film in it but i dont know if its been shot yet im guessing its expired anyways. any help would be great i wanna get this camera runnin.

I got one of these as well. The main body does take AA batteries. Though mine makes a bad noise when running as though it needs lubrication. I think I had to clean the battery contacts to get the camera working. The batteries in the handgrip work only if you have the cable that connects the grip to the camera body. I haven't shot film with mine since it seems like not a very durable camera. I got it for the d-mount zoom lens with reflex finder that came with it.

can i run it with out the handgrip bateries? cause my hndgrip doesnt have the thing that links the trigger to the camera, and i dont have that cord. im going to try cleanng out the battery compartment cause it is kinda dirty. is there a good way to clean that?

Yes, the camera can run without the handgrip batteries. Those are used for longer filming anyway. Mine is missing the link from the grip to the camera trigger too. Must be an easy thing to lose. I use contact cleaner which I find at an electronics supplier (Radio Shack, Frys). Also I use an emery board or steel wool if you can reach the contacts.
