Please forgive this question but I am having a "senior's moment" and I can't remember around 30 years ago when carting my Canon 814 s8 around what speed I filmed at. It
must have been 24fps!! Or was it????
Cheers Geronimouse!

film speed
I'm there with you, brother 8. Thirty years ago when I did a great deal of filmmaking, I used 18 fps for silent and 24 fps for sound. The reason being that sound quality is greatly enhanced at the faster speed. Unfortunatly, Kodak no longer makes Super 8 sound film, so I just stick with 18fps and add the sound later. Besides you get more time for your buck at the slower speed.
Hope this helps. Peace

Re: S8 frame rates
it should be obvious when you project the film. 24 fps stuff projected at 18 fps will look *really* slow, almost like slow motion, and the other way around is even more obvious. it's really hard to see whether you're projecting at the right speed when you are in fact at the right speed, but by determining which speed is the wrong one you can always be sure which one is right. ;-)Geronimouse wrote:I can't remember around 30 years ago when carting my Canon 814 s8 around what speed I filmed at.
