Can we buy the magazine one issue at a time by paying via PayPal? And without entering a subscription? Just wondering!
I just sent you $10 via PayPal. Let us see what all the buzz is all about :-D
Juergen wrote:Of course - the articles will be in English. "schmalfilm" is published in Germany for 57 years now. There will be the best articles from the last two years in translation and there will be a lot of new, never published articles from authors around the world (Japan, USA, England, Norway, France, etc.). The magazine has 72 pages.

There will NOT be a pdf version. This is a magazine to READ. You wont do that at the pc and if you print it it will be mainly black and white. That is not our aim.

Within the next days, you may even see some sampe articles at http://www.smallformat.de

This magazine looks interesting based on the photograph, but I didn't see anything on the website that gives many clues regarding content. Are members of this board writing content for it?

Sounds like a great mag but can't shell out the $$ just yet... Oh, price is OK, I pay $6.99 an issue for Model Car Racing Magazine so $10 for a super 8 one is pretty cheap. I'll just satisfy myself with the old crusty Super 8 Filmaker Magazines I have for now...

Only the first number can be paid for 10 $/Euro. You must not pay issue by issue. After the first issue readers will tell the publisher if they are interested to subscribe. If there are enough subscribers we will publish the mag regularly 6 times a year.

Personally I don't have a problem with the price- it is the ONLY magazine that deals with this format so I want to see it! I have seen the German version and can attest to its quality- good quality printing, well designed layout etc. Its full of nice pictures! (I can't read German  )
I can't wait to get the new English version- lost Leicina prototypes- what more could you ask for?! Juergen, did you find the ultra-legendary 120fps Leicina Special? I guess we'll have to wait and see. And the article about James and his Stromboli panoramic project which is of some personal interest.
Perhaps if enough of us buy it the price will come down! (wishful thinking  )

Outdated format for outdated technology - yeah, it could work.

Are you refering to a magazine format as being outdated? It sure is nice to not always need electricity or a computer screen to read something, no?

I was hoping for a shipping option. Are you set up to ship these magazines to the United States in a manner faster than by boat? (boat is the standard default shipping option and can take 6 weeks to 2 months to arrive).

If there had been shipping options when I did pay pal I would have gladly paid a couple bucks more for faster shipping, unless you already took that into account and are sending it a faster way than by boat.

yes thanks for bringing that up re: shipping.. this would be unfortunate to receive these mags weeks later that the rest of the cominuty...

would not be fair for some folks across the pond to post here about a particular article in the mag and some other folks cant chime in because they wont have their copies for weeks...
