Discount on K40 in lots of 5

Post by Dusty »

Does Kodak still offer a discount on K40 when ordering in lots of five? They did at one point, but I can't find any reference to it anymore. Does it have a separate catalogue number if they do?

I usually buy from B&H, but I was considering trying direct from Kodak again. That's never gone smoothly, it's apparent whoever answers the phone has no clue at all about what they sell and only a vague grasp of what exactly it is Kodak does, so I wanted to be ready with the catalogue numbers in hand. Has anyone ordered any lately and know the current price?

It's approximately 10.80 per cart plus tax if you order 5 or more. Below that it's approximately $15 per cart...

The Kodak people are highly variable. When I ordered, the first woman quoted an absurd price ($64 for 5 carts!). I called back in the afternoon and got someone different, who immediately said the previous order was incorrectly entered, and corrected it ($49 with student discount).

I'd just stick with B&H. Their excellent customer service and fast cheap shipping is worth the extra 70 cents per cart over Kodak's bulk rate.

Kodak's shipping is $3.50 via UPS... it took 3 or 4 days to my door from the time I ordered. Kodak's service is spotty, I agree, but the student discount is only available through them.

Last Friday (29 Apr) Kodak quoted me $7 shipping via DHL and assured me that that was the cheapest shipping they had.

There's always John Schwind.

My recent shipment of K-40 was sent by overnight air from Kodak's Vancouver office -- at no extra charge. The Canadian entertainment imaging group have always been friendly and efficient with me.

Not sure what's going on. I ordered on 4/4/05 and UPS shipping was $3.50. You called the 1.800.621.FILM number? Maybe it has to do with your location or something. Mine shipped from a warehouse in Georgia, and I'm in north Florida.

id rather get fresh film form the makers of the film directly instead of picked over stock from somewhere else..

i have a kodak office in my metro area, so groud shipping gets it to me the next day. i think my first batch of 5 carts cost me 60 bux with shipping and tax included
next time im using a student ID...

FWIW, my film from Kodak wasn't that fresh - exp. 11/2005. I have a pet theory that they give you nearly-expired stock if you're a student ;)

Nah, you're not that special. I received a batch of "11/2005" from Kodak two weeks ago, and I haven't been a student for a decade or so.

Glad I'm not the only one, but it worries me that they're selling that close to the expiry.

For what it's worth, I received 5 rolls of K40 from Kodak Australia last week, and it all expires on 11/2005 as well.

I think it's a matter of Kodak just not having its act together. I've always paid about $3.50 for UPS, then this quantum leap to $7. I probably should have insisted the guy check UPS price.
