The new Teaser Trailer for HORRORS OF WAR
1 minute & 30 seconds

This trailer consists of about 80% Super 8 film, mostly kodachrome 40, plus X & Tri-X black & White stocks. The Super 8 was all trasfered at FILM & VIDEO TRANSFERS by Doug, who does superb work.

MPEG1 (universal format)

WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER version

There is NO STOCK FOOTAGE. Every frame was shot by our crew. We got a lot of great material from the D-Day re-enactment at Conneaut Ohio last September, as well as 16mm footage by Scott Spears from a year before. Shot with 35mm film, 16mm film, and super 8 of varying types. This teaser features primarily unseen footage and presents a first glimpse at the scope of the production. Not much story elements in this, but a lot of action & showing the amount of extras, the quality of work, and the toys we have to play with.

THE COMPLETE LIST OF CAMERAMEN....
Cinematography by Micah Jenkins, Bret Dahlgren, Scott Spears, John Whitney, Gil Whitney, Bill Pivetta, John Fromes, and Miguel Baldoni Olivencia.

What the hell was that thing?

It looks really sweet, got to love re-enactments that are on topic, nothing beats free actors and props

Nice work. I loved the low-angle shots of the soldiers moving through grass - reminiscent of The Thin Red Line.

thanks.

I chose to sepia the BLACK & WHITE, to make it match the colour footage better (and saturated that in telecine too), but the original, untouched PLUS X & TRI X super looked so real, and so period, it's amazing.

Long live Super 8.

I'm considering asking Pro8mm to throw in as a co-promotion, but my luck with them has been hit and miss. Once I got great service, twice I got dissed.

sorry, i stand corrected. i guess i mean the 35mm footage then, the sharp stuff. it's beside the point i'm trying to make though. better technical quality means much higher demands on production design, makeup, cinematography and everything else to maintain the illusion of reality. i think your film look extremely promising, i just wanted to point this out so you don't forget.

The Zombie Nazi makeup looks more convincing in Super 8. It's got that "Jeezus what the h--- is that!" feel to it that you intended. Suspension of disbelief is aided by the roughness of the S8 image.

The 35 footage, due to its clarity, can more easily stray into the "J--- what a lousy makeup job is that!" end of the field.

I haven't seen your new trailer yet, loved your first one.

I was at the post house a few weeks back when they were transferring off a few reels of regular 8mm GI home movies - Germany, May, 1945. They were clearing rubble out of the streets. Painted swastikas still showed on the burned out buildings. Widows in black veils and orphans on crutches hobbled by the cameraman and glared. If looks could kill...

whatever. it's not me who's risking all that money. why did you post this if you didn't want feedback? so that we would love you for your fantastic achievment?

oh really? and i was almost convinced that since zombies don't really exist they don't have to look real. are you saying that sonnyboo is wrong after all?

In mattias defence, it also sounded like a bit of a dig to me. That said though, I understand where your coming from.

Except I must add for the record that most NAZIS where in fact brain dead zombies! 8O
