Hi everyone
I have a Bolex 551 XL that was purchased on Jan 15th 1978 (or so it says on the serial number sheet). I got this camera at a great price ($5 bucks at a flea market) and have so far tested it with one roll of Tri X. Came out alright though I didn't care for the film stock too much.
However the camera has a knob for 1 and 18fps. But it is a sound camera and I was under the impression that all sound recording is done at 24fps in super 8 like 16mm. So I was curious if the speed gets bumped up to 24fps when the sound system button (#43 on picture) gets pushed in? Or is it just different with differnet camera's?
I'd like it to shoot 24fps. So if this does it I'll find a way to keep the button pushed in.
Also has anyone else shot with this camera who can supply an opinion on it?

Hey, wanna share the manual with us? If you could scan a copy and put it in a zip file you can either upload it to (user: anonymous/pass:youremail@you.com) ftp.filmshooting.com -> upload/manuals or email it to me and I'll make sure it gets out to the public.
Would be great!
Btw. I think super8 records (atleast can record) sound at 18fps.
