Trouble with DVD

Post by tod8 »

I had a friend try to download the DVD (NTSC version), his connection at his work is extremely fast (T1 I think). He tried it twice and it failed after about 2 gigs each time (1 1/2-2 hours).

I also tried it on a computer with a DSL connection. After about 6 hours I paused it and it would not start again.

Andreas, could there be a problem?

Would it be possible to break the avi into multiple compressed archives like zips or sits?

How is everyone else making out with the DVD download?

Hi,

My NTSC avi dvd copy just finished and it is all there, very very nice. I really like the music, too. It took about 4 1/2 hours at 120 kbps fastest.

Using a download helper which can resume broken or paused downloads.

If most festivals do not accept films that have been previously shown to the public, I guess we will have to wait a fair while before sending 'Pulse of Life' to TV stations. Likely, the thing to do would be to submit the film to as many festivals as possible and finally when all festival options are completely exhausted, then send it to TV stations for public viewing.

I guess the free download for the public needs to be stopped too, a free download is pretty much the same as sending it to TV stations. Anyone can see it.

or you can just hope to be saved by the obscurity factor. it's not likely that they will find out that it's available online unless you tell them. but then again somebody might, either by mistake or to sabotage.

I think making it a member only download would satisfy most festivals. I would consider this a screener. Also, it looks like a few have already downloaded it. And all it would take is one of those users to start up a torrent and it could be distributed that way.
