I agree with Lucas, i now get my transfers done at the bbc, using the rank mk3... std 8,super 8 inc sound, 9.5 and 16mm
gates are available...definetly the cheapest in london..
try http://www.bbcresources.com or the chap who transferred my film was John Crane his email is john.crane@bbc.co.uk
good luck...... there are other transfer facilities available, but cost a lot more money.....price i think is around £200.00 an hour all in including vcr, but i may be wrong.....

Millennium, Spirit, Cinescan

Post by Daniel »

Hello,

Basstruc did mention of very high end telecine and scanners for Super 8mm format. (Millennium, Spirit, Cinescan). Anyone knows where it is possible to transfer to data 2k or HDTV at this moment with these machines ? (not considering previous mention of "The machine room" in London).
Thank you.

Here it is the answer from rushes at London. pound270 per hour!!:

Hi José

We do have an hourly rate for a client attended One/Best Light before 10.00am to either Beta SP or Mini DV which is £270.00 per hour which includes Beta SP or Mini DV stock. If you wish to go to Digi Beta the rate would remain at £270.00 per hour but stock would be additional. Our prices for Digi Beta stock are as follows:

12 mins £80.00
20 mins £90.00
30 mins £100.00
60 mins £140.00
90 mins £200.00

The telecine suite we would use for this is the Ursa Diamond using a Da Vinci. Please visit our website to view the showreels of our colourists to get an idea of the work we do at Rushes.

If you require any further information please don't hesitate to contact myself or any of the Bookings team.

just to add, i see a graded transfer is £450.00, is it worth spending £270.00 on a one light rush, surely if its worthing transferring either go the cheaper rank mk 3 route or splash out £450.00 on a graded....

cheap telecine?

Post by beenie »

I have no idea if these guys are any good, but i was quoted 'about £80 for xfer of 4 s8 films'

they are in central london.. its a proper telecine suite thats taken over by student when the pros go home (not saying that the students aren't pro!)

:-)

still.. here is the url:

i'll be using them within the next month, so i'll post back with my findings.
