Pulse of Life DV version is NOW out!

I am enquiring about video formats with which to submit the film to film festivals and the like. I have never entered a film festival before...I assume that they would have a video projector set up, able to cater for a variety of formats. Would DVD or MiniDv tape offer the best quality image for video projection?

beta sp and dvd are the most common. sometimes they also accept digibeta and minidv. i'd suggest making a beta sp copy since it's the most robust and compatible.

Can we make a new agreement here?
Anyone submitting the film to a festival PLEASE tell us in ADVANCE..(on this thread)
That way we can avoid sending DUPLICATES to same festivals and can also work TOGETHER with any person who has the same festival in mind as another one of us....

I am thinking about the New York Underground Film Festival and the Chicago Underground film Festival....if anyone else has those in mind please let me know, thanks!..

Also, Mattias - am I not mistaken but where you so adamantly 'OUT' when this project was first discussed?.......NOW you are jumping in every five minutes like you are SORRY that you never participated....?!?!?!?! ...(such nerve)......

not sure how much you pay for your server bandwith, but for these kind of things setting up a torrent which is shared by the forum community would be aan ideal way to distribute 2.6GB AVI files (and also a DVD image)

ya, a torrent is def. the best way to deal with it.

meanwhile, my d/l of the AVI is 1/10th finished! can't wait to see it in DVD glory on my home theater!

I'm not going to set up another way of distributing this. Sorry. Not too many people know what it is (me included) and I can use bandwidth. Not a problem.

ItÃ‚Â´s downloading quite fine, I have to say. Good server, my DSL is running at pretty full speed. After 4 hours I have 2 GB.

But I definitely recommend using a download helper like GetRight, in case the line breaks up.

i didn't want to participate but i've been a strong supporter of the project all along.

i'm sorry i never participated because i happen to know how festivals like to screen their films, because i need a new snowboard, because i'm interested in andreas' scanner, because i enjoyed the film, or simply because i post to this thread? there was a timelapse project last year too and i didn't participate in that either, and most likely i won't join the next one either. it's just not my cup of tea. i'll continue to participate in the threads that concern it though, if that's ok with you... ;-)

Sorry, but no. Please leave the film as it is. We'll look into sound design more in the next projects.

The film is finished now and should be the same all over the world.

I must say I am happy with the result. Thanks Andreas and everyone else.

Although, there are 1 or 2 transitions I don't like (maybe they will look better on DVD). I love the lightbulb in the beginning (kudos to whoever shot that, it is quite sublime as well as the hazy footage that follows it, and the music is perfect at that point). I like the rest of the soundtrack as well (except for the singing, and to whomever said it was a woman, it sounds like a high pitched male vocal to me!).

I am impressed by everyone's filmmaking.

Now, can we see how much noise we can make about this thing? I am interested in seeing the attention that it gets. One thing though - will the fact that it is available for FREE to ANYONE for download undercut somehow the 'specialness' (for lack of a better term) of having it in film festivals?
If anyone can see it on a computer, why would a film festival accept it into their program? :?:

What fascinates me about the film more then the cinematography is the fact that it was done all over the world on the same day. I am wondering if that would be the most interesting draw to this film by outsiders, or the fact that it was done on Super-8 (which most outsiders consider an amateur, dead medium). We shall see I guess.....

p.s. - for the person who asked earlier about who did what - I did the shot's (black & white) inside of Grand Central Station, New York City. They say that everyone in the world passes through Grand Central at least once in their life, so I think it's kind of a fitting piece to the whole 'world' concept that this film is about.

I have a mac G4 with an internal dvd burner and the idvd software that came with the computer, but when I try to open pulse of life in the program it says avi is an unsupported file type. What software can I use to burn the movie to dvd? Is there free software I can download? Thanks

this is the wrong forum but ffmpegx is what you're looking for. it will create an image that you can burn with disk utility or whatever.
