Pre-bay: Items for Sale

Sorry for the spam, but I want to offer a few things up to the group before I list them on eBay. I will make a contribution to the forum for any item I sell to a member or guest here.

Pictures will soon be available of each; I'll post the links here when they are done. PM me with an offer if you're interested in any of the following:

1. Bell and Howell Filmo 70-HR 16mm Camera Package
- camera
- ac motor and cord
- 400' magazine
- viewfinder objectives for 16mm,25mm (x2),50mm,75mm
- desc: oh how i hate to sell it. i have deliberated for weeks... this camera is in great condition. i have run 100' of tri-x with it; film should be back from forde mon/tue and i can confirm that it works (or not, as the case may be). EDIT: Works fine, looks great.

2. Kinoptik f1.5 9mm c-mount Lens
- perfect condition
- covers super16
- same lens as comes in the a-cam; i've never seen it anywhere else
- desc: i only want to get rid of it so i can afford a 10mm switar AR, etc.

3. Beaulieu R16 16mm Camera
- body only
- viewfinder dirty, needs clean/service by bjorn
- recelled battery
- desc: this is a great camera, runs perfectly, film tested and i may keep it and send it bjorn myself; but i'm jonesing over an EBM at the moment, need a 16mm telecine solution, want a new light kit, etc. :roll:
- edit: i forgot, i have a sweet custom suede sack/bag for the r16 that will be included.

hey ccortez,

Funny thing.. i was just at the CSC awards, and 2 of their award trophys were bell and howell filmo's mounted on beefy wooden blocks.

solid little camera. Mine came in this kickass green wooden box with all the parts (ac motor, crystal sync etc etc....) straight vintage from the war.

It seems a shame to sell that Filmo 70HR. Steady picture & rugged mechanism, and with the magazine & motor you can shoot 12 minute takes. Some have flywheels built into the shutter mechanism for additional stability.

For anyone considering this camera, you should be pleased with your purchase.

how does the 'fly wheel' work i've never heard of that before.

I wish that the filmo had the ability to change the shutter angle on it, that would be awesome. btw, do you know what the angle is on it?

will the Filmo take single perf film? if not are there any solutions?

The filmo takes either single or double perf.

The oldest Filmos from the 20's, the black ones like the 70-A and early 70-DA models, needed dual perf stock. Anything from a brown 70-DA and newer (and the 70-HR is from the 60's or 70's) can use single perf.

The 70-HR I own has a flywheel ass'y built into the shutter. It may have been an aftermarket specialty add-on.

According to the web page below, the Filmo shutter angle is 204 degrees.
If you want variable shutter angle, use a Bolex H-16, another small but mighty 16mm camera.

at first glance, it appears those might be angenieux primes. would be a good price if that's the case. wouldn't be much of a reflection of my lenseless filmo...

Just curious how much for the bell and howell, that is of course if you can wind it up as opposed to using batteries for it or other some sort of problem that can happen (think px13). Thanks.

I think I misspoke saying this is exactly the same lens as the a-cam. Here's a picture of the a-cam:

Here are some pics of my kinoptik:

It has the same specs and may be the same in every way. But it looks a little different. So I don't think I can fairly claim it covers super 16 w/o testing it. There's not much info online about it apart from what gets said about the a-cam.

Definitely NO BATTERIES! Not only can you wind it up, you must.

This may sound inflated to some, but I'd like to get $400 for the whole package. It's film tested and guaranteed satisfaction or $$ back.

Heh-heh! You have no idea.

I'm doing everything short of breaking open my piggy bank to figure out how to buy a particular piece of your gear. And, actually, it might be worth cracking open the piggy bank. Those quarters have a way of adding up fast. ;)
