The Angeles Crest takes you into the Angeles National Forest
I agree about the Angeles Crest Highway. I "commuted" from Boston to LA last year and that was a favorite getaway for me. Here are some of my snaps:

You can drive up the Mt. Wilson Observatory road or stop and hike through the forest at Switzer Falls, only about 20 minutes north of Pasadena:

The Santa Monica Pier is also a scenic spot, although a bit touristy:

Hey, nice photos reedsturtevant! Now i can see what you guys have been taking about :wink: . Certanly does look like a nice place to get away to. The The Santa Monica Pier also looks like somewhere i should plan to visit at least . . even if i dont use it as one of my locations.

Thanks for showing me the pics, its always nice to see some views of these places that everyones telling me about!
