film to video with a 50 HZ projector at 60 HZ current
After much looking, I am getting a Eumig Mark 610 D silent projector to do film to video transfer. This projector has variable 1-18 fps speeds. Problem: the one I am getting runs ONLY at 50 Hz alternating current (AC), and I need to use it in the USA (60 Hz current) - I can use a 220v to 110 v transformer-If my sole purpose is to transfer film to video at low speeds (1through 3 fps) (I am not using the projector to run at regular 18 fps speed), would it really matter if I use it with a 60 Hz AC?
No problem. The belt drive from the motor has two belt positions, one for 50 Hz and one for 60 Hz. This feature is on all machines.
My machine is a UK market model and only has transformer input taps for 200 - 250 volts. There might have been some for a more international market that included a 110 volt tap. I do not know.
It might be worth checking to see if there is a tap that has not been wired to the input board on the machine from the transformer.
Transformers tended to be made on automatic machinery, so one model would be set up for all. As the projectors would have been assembled by hand not much point in extra work when they are all off to 200-250 volt markets.
Fortunately the belt pulleys must have been made on automatics, so all projectors are dual frequency capable.
My machine is actually a 607D, but the instruction leaflet covers the whole range. I think the 610D came with the f1.0 lense as standard, and a switch to start a tape recorder. The belt changing is actually on the instruction leaflet.

Interesting! I'll check that.It might be worth checking to see if there is a tap that has not been wired to the input board on the machine from the transformer.
Switch to start a tape recorder? You mean the 1/f contact switch (like the one for the flash socket)? If so, I do not think so, although I am planning on adding additional circuitry to start a tape recorder via a 1/f contact switch AND to automate the whole film to video transfer frame by frame. At a whopping cost of $20-$30 (price includes a new soldering gun)My machine is actually a 607D, but the instruction leaflet covers the whole range. Two things though about the 607d that you have:
1. Does it have a frame knob for manual adjustment of frame position? also
2. Does the 607D support the continuous range of speeds 0-18 or just the speeds shown on the Speed knob dial?
This information will help me a lot.

Sorry I misunderstood you wahiba. The 1/f contact switch is usually used to sync projector and recorder (not to start recorder). In this case I really doubt that the 610D has this feature (although I do not mind it). However, in case it does not I'll just have to create a provision for it on my electronic circuitLunar07 wrote: Switch to start a tape recorder? The speeds are fixed. There is an adjustment to get the framing right. One tends to use it when switching between Super-8 and Regular-8.
Tape switch is nothing sophisticated. It just starts the tape recorder when the projector is running, so is only suitable for general background music.
The belt adjustment is in the instructions that came with mine. It is obvious when you see it.
They are pretty well made. Nylon gears, but nothing puny.
I am not sure about the lense. I acquired an f1.0 lense in place of the original f1.6. But the f1.0 is not designed fo rthis projector, although the barrel is the same size. It just makes focussing a little bit fiddly. I think there was an f1.3 zoom so the 610 might come with that.
