I'm looking for an inexpensive way of video assisting super 8. I figure one could buy one of those little video cameras, attach it to the eye piece, and run it through a mini DV camera LCD. What does anyone think?

anyone have input on what it takes for a camera to work, and if any of the less expensive of these would?

actually, I believe many high end ones are in color, b&w is probably more common due to lower cost, especially when it comes to using high res cameras in order to be able to focus accurately.Lucas Lightfeat wrote:I'd just like to add that I think there's a good reason why Pro video assists are in black and white - it's helpful for seeing contrast ratios. A colour camera is then, not only more expensive, but perhaps unsuitable for your requirements.
For contrast ratio's you can always switch your monitor to b&w....

Can not verify this info but I am pretty sure that in the late ´80s or early ´90s I saw a magazine print of a Beaulieu, planneed, or prototype? that included a built in video tap so the camera could be used either as a S8 camera or video camera with an external recorder.
I am not thinking of the Hi8 video camera they launched.
I have never seen this camera since so it might have been a prototype or project model only.
Anybody else who recalls this?
