The UniBlimp - anyone got one?

Post by Lucas Lightfeat »

I used to have a Uniblimp, a box, made of hardboard, lined with thick felt, with a screw underneath for fitting to a tripod, and a bolt inside for the camera to fix to. The lid came off for adjustments, and the front and back were plexiglass, which scratched a bit too easily. If the camera was short, of course, it was hard to see through the viewfinder from behind the plexiglass at the rear. The plexiglass could have been replaced with real glass, of course.

This thing silenced, and I really mean SILENCED my very very noisy old Canon, but I hardly ever used it because it was a bit too cumbersome for point and shoot stuff. If you're shooting a film, bear it in mind. I think it was made in England. Cost me £40, but Air France smashed it up on my way back from Indonesia. Anyone got one?
