Nah, he wont take offence. He still has 2 of my cameras to repair, so I´ll be sending a bunch of money his way anyway
Cool; now sounds a lot better, I'm not feeling guilty anymore!

Yep, thats the Bjorn I´m talking about, the "master of Beaulieu-repairs".
Yes; I've seen good posts referencing him!

You should Email him some pictures and give him a price for 5 or 10 battery packs or so, I wouldn´t be surprised if you guys could make some sort of business arrangement. You could make some money and he could sell them and make some money too, and he wouldn´t need to put down any time to building the battery packs.
I've never talked him by now; but I'll drop an eMail or P.M. in a few hours. I enjoy this kind of works, so, I'll be happy building the units if he likes it. Of course I could charge little money for unit, and let the sales of the batchs in hands of Bjorn, if he's interested. BTW: thanks in advance for referencing me! ...Thanks to Christoph too! ;)

The tubes fit my Pentax Spotmatic, but a bit long for the Beaulieu. Comparing the threads, the Beaulieu battery threads have half the travel of the macro tube, 4mm vs 2mm. I bought the tube set (of three) at a local camera fair for a few pounds. Don't know what the 1.0 or 0.75 is measuring...
Nice data to accounting, "gianni1"; Pentax Spotmatic uses "M42x1" threads, and some russian clone units are with "M42x0.75". BTW: I'm a really great fanatic of Asahi Pentax Spotmatic, I think Super-Takumar lenses are greaters in the japanese history. I've owned my own Spotmatic years ago. Just save them in good shape, by the way if sometime I could buy the Asahi set from you!

A row of LED´s or a meter that shows the amount of powert left in the batteries would be cool.
Yeap! Sounds good! Could be killer if done with square LEDs, but I think could add a lot of work; so, rounded LEDs again! But yes, I'll add a little row of 5 units, to show steps of 20% on the charge state.
Uppsala BildTeknik wrote:
I saw that you have 2 LED´s on it already, does any of them show when the battery is fully charged? That would be a cool feature too.
Actually, two LEDs solid-shinning are indication of: "Fully Charged Pack". Only upper LED solid-shinning means: "Charging".
But take this as just a feature on my own prototype. I'll change it by the LED's row in the next built.

Hold on!, Hang on there, man! ...The ambulance is on the way!!! 8O
Sorry man; just a little joke! ;) But hey!; your work probes that we could use M42x1 threaded tubes if necessary! Thanks a lot!!!

Maybe people here should first use search archive here or google the internet somewhat on Beaulieu battery replacements. It is all reinventing wheels or kicking dead horses. It is about the most pusblished subject considering beaulieux cameras.
Sure Andre; I've started in such way, then I've designed my own way, and I have now:
1) Three choices of capacity: 950mA/H; 1400mA/H; 2000mA/H.
2) Two kinds of cells: Rechargeable Ni-Cad; Rechargeable Ni-Mh.
3) You can use Non-Rechargeable cells too if needed(for emergencies!)
4) The battery pack is charged outside the Beaulieu camera, so, no un-needed overheat in the cam.
5) LED indicators for the battery charge state.
6) Pretty compact and ruggedized solution.
7) 2 Mts. rubber coated cable with professional Cannon styles connections, in the interlock itself, the dumb battery, and the battery pack.
Separated connection for charger; with protected polarity.

Maybe Uppsala should mind his own business instead of forcing people into discussion on deals they don't want. Or is he personally going to make up for the lost profits of others.
Andre!; don't be so hard with Uppsala!; What is the bad that he makes to others suggesting to me the built of some packs if some people needs them? If you are talking about Bjorn, I could be happy selling him the units cheaper, even in orders of reduced quantities.
aj wrote:
As far as I know Bjorn is already selling several types of Beaulieu batteries solutions.
Sure, and it is fine.

Also mentioned price levels are just good for some coffee-money when people work for a living on these items.
I don't know what do you means on these phrase. I've mentioned only my own costs for the stuff needed to built the complete setup (excluding the original Beaulieu pack), and I've not mentioned a price for my work at all. I've spent eight/nine hours to built my own setup. Do your own math: how much could you charge by eight hours of your time to get it all ready to work? Same amount as for the required materials maybe?
aj wrote:
BTW it would been much smarter to conform to Beaulieu standard for the dummy battery.
BTW These can be had at eBay at some Euro 20-30
Sure, if you like it. My idea was: "Do the hard job once, and get it easier later". I'll never need again anymore those weird hard to find cells, and mine there'll be charged by hours or days, fully operative, with or without a socket for recharging it soon.
What is wrong with this picture? I don't know. I've not drilled a hole in the cam. If I like it, I could buy again an original battery later, to use the cam by shorter periods without cable... But you can bet it: I'll not buy another original pack for myself! ;)

That is how it is when you loose your job or commisioned business as other people start doing yours for less or for fun and possibly without investing in research/education or paying taxes and such.
You are completely wrong, man. You loose your job or bussiness when you don't have enough flexibility to get your professional life and actions quickly adapted to the new times and challenges.
75 years ago, japanese products were tilt as "bad quality", today they are one of powerfulest industries in the planet. A few years ago, chinese products were tilt by common people as "cheap trash", today, many of the chinese products are simply so good (or almost so good) as the competence, because they have evolved in the time. Add to this: they are a lot cheap! ...Okay, they have even a lot of trash products too; but you can catch the idea.
Let's says that the whole process could take ten years more. You'll be surprised! Can you recall these phrase from "Jurassic Park"? ;)
