Hi,
Does anyone know what models of projector run at 18fps with variable speed and 3 blades so I can project at 16.67 fps and capture to PAL without flicker?
Thanks
Alan

I've got a Bauer T5 projector with a manual speed turn-button. I'm not sure if it runs at 16fps though. I've used it to transfer 18fps super8 to PAL DV with much success.

speaking of which, i got an idea that i want to try when i get the time. if i put a photo sensor in front of the projector and hook it up to a multimeter set to frequencey measurement, will i get a useful reading? are cheap multimeters accurate enough? will the blades produce a clean enough signal? i'll try it soon, but some feedback from people like booster, roger and pedro would be nice too...

Just an immediate brief feedback. I have a rather expensive Fluke M87 that measures frequencies at 0.0000+5? digits accuracy which easily can be used. I have not as of yet checked other cheaper models but from memory I recall (with a little reservation) one cheap and OK unit from Biltema that measures the angle between ignition sparks on motors (and RPM I think) to set the system up properly. With a little reservation this one does the trick and maybe some regular cheap ones too.
You can check one out here. http://www.biltema.no/products/product. ... emId=17452
Rather idiotically this unit has a setting for 3 (+4-5-6-8) cylinder engines which may sort of play with the 3 -blades shutter!
NOK 229,-
More meters but seemingly no Hz counter:

Search on site: "Digitalt testinstrument" to see them all.
There are probably loads of others available in the same category.
