Matt,
I'm responding to what you said about Super 8 - that most of it looks jumpy. I don't know where the stability in Tams work originates - but I did have a conversation with Eric Rosen about image stability and he told me he can "work on it if the camera was on sticks [a tripod]." I will ask him more about it the next time I talk to him. So I'm saying I think he has software that corrects the jump.

i just said that the stuff i've transferred on wp's and mk3's did, which i believe to be a scanner problem, but i see what you're saying.steve hyde wrote:I'm responding to what you said about Super 8 - that most of it looks jumpy.
probably. so do i. i'm more interested in whether these results can be had without software. So I'm saying I think he has software that corrects the jump.

The first time I saw the B-roll footage I thought the time-lapse looked too stable to be super-8. I also thought the bicycle stuff looked too good as well.
But on second viewing I could go either way.
Now that I know what it is, all I can say is that I'm glad to have discovered that Pro8 ain't the only game in town for transfers.
Whatever they do over there at Flying Spot, they sure bring out the best in the format.

aahhh well I did get some pretty unstable stuff back. It was kind of weird...some rolls were perfect and others were totally unstable.
Eric, I remember that stuff! That actually did look unreal..I have still yet to see super8 look like that...That was part of the reason i decided to use the format
I'm going to post some full res stills in a second, just have to get them uploaded. Thanks for the great replies!

Reallllllly pretttttttttttyyyyyyy. It's always nice to see super 8 handled well. Amazing what you can do with such a tiny frame, sometimes.

It would be interesting to see one of those timelapse clips without the "reciprocity effect", to see how it looks like before the digital effect.

Tam,
The DVD. http://www.cleancutfilms.ca/ How did you master it? Did you do it yourself or did somebody compress it for you? Workflow comes up on this forum all the time. Many of us are still trying to dial-in the best workflow for Super 8.
Did you go from DigiBeta to DVD or did you go from DV to DVD?
Cheers,
Steve
