Okay, anyone know of a good source for rewinding mechanisms that I could mount on a 4' board? Or can you purchase these things any more? I have a very old one that has a 'tower' on each end. It would be perfect, except the cranks are missing to wind the film!?
Any other suggestions for efficient ways to clean film?
Thanks
Dave

I'd like to see some info about this too. I'm actually about to build a cleaning bench from an old dismantled viewer.

Rewinds
Check out ebay! There seems to always be rewinds for sale in the movie camera and other areas. If you need S-8mm rewinds, Craig made a very popular Pro rewinds just for S-8mm. They are nice and well suited for S-8mm work. I really prefer the big pro rewinds for 16mm with either the proper shaft for S-8mm, or with one of the new adapters made by Neumade to convert 16mm shafts to S-8mm use. Hollywood brand pro rewinds with the S-8mm one reel shaft is what I have used for the past twenty years. I also like the Moviola and Neumade rewinds also. I would recommend finding a good set of one of the above (alond with friction drags) and get a set of the brass S-8mm adapters. It will outlast you probably and add immeasurably to your enjoyment in use. The rewinds that come with viewers are simply dreadful. 8)
