Time Lapse Traffic & Clouds

I'm trying to obtain as much info as possible on Time Lapse before I go out and shoot this Sunday. The last two areas I would like tips on are Traffic and Clouds. (In regards to traffic, what are the best ways to catch night time traffic) Are there any suggestions as to shot intervals, filming time etc. Are there any good websites to check out?

traffic is better shot at really low frame rates than as "regular" timelapse. that's how you get the long trails of light. otherwise it will just move faster.

What do you mean by low frame rates? Would 1 shot a second be okay?

1 shot per second and 1 fps are really two different things. 1 shot per second at the 18 fps setting will produce fast moving traffic, while 1 fps will produce the motion blur i think you're after.

The camera has a timer interval of 1/5/20 or 60. Its a Canon 1014xls. So I'm looking for 1 frame per second to get that motion look?

I have a Nizo Pro and am looking to do some similar shots to super8davies, (I know these are very amature shots to you but we all have to try them as beginners

Anyway I was wondering if it was a good idea to use the automatic B function for the car lights? or would this mean constant change in speed during playback?

haven't tried it, as a matter of fact i don't know the nizo's at all, but people tell me this is exactly what they use this function for. i'm sure somebody will elaborate.

You need to use longer exposure times if you want those streaks. Some cameras have the time exposure -feature.
