Hi, ive seen the above camera for sale at £400.00, is this a good price, camera suppose to be exc condition and full working order, how does this cam compare to my 4008zm4.
anything i should look out for...is it a reliable cam, can it still be serviced, i know the 4008 can.......thanks for any advice.....
Beaulieu 6008s any good?

I previously owned a 4008ZMII and now I have a 6008s. Here are my thoughts.
I think the 4008 series viewfinder is untouchable. It is very large, very bright and the full ground glass retractable screen is tops. The 6008s viewfinder is slightly smaller and does not have retractable ground glass but is just as accurate so long as it has been adjusted correctly.
The 4008 series speeds can be ramped up to 70fps or 80fps with auto-exposure if you have a beaulieu auto-iris on your lens. The 6008 series upwards have discrete speeds.
The 6008 series do not use internal filters. I think this is a good thing since the gel filters can pick up dirt and debris and are difficult to clean. Also you no longer have to cut notches into b/w film carts to override the filter switch mechanism.
The 6008 series has a built-in intervalometer
The 6008 series is awesome for low-light work. Shutter speed of 1/60secs @ 24fps compared to the 4008's 1/85sec @ 24fps. That's close to 1/2 f-stop difference.
I think the metering system in the 6008 is better. The meter is center weighted and feel like I have more confidence in it.
I hate the stock handle on the 4008 (made for a 5 year old). I find the 6008 far more comfortable for hand-held work. The 4008 handgrip extension is fine though.
