I understand thet this movie was shot completly in super 8 and transfer to 35mm, it is there any site that I can go and read about how they made it and what kind camera they used etc.

I can beat that: simply move your pointer-thingy up to the search-thingy just above this post and click and then type in "guy and maddin" in the little box-thingy and you get all the assistance-thingy you want. Including tonnes from ME. It is time for PITERRE and people like him to learn what Google is or what Yahoo is instead of putting innane posts like this on here and boards across the internet. People like you make this forum worth reading it. The reason I ask the question was because I search several sites but they said basic things about how the movie was done and not very technical, as for Santos I am glad that he have a great knowledge of everything...I read in this forum simple questions of people who never have use super 8 cameras and this forum is a great help for them, so thanks again Scotness for your assistant and SANTOS , WOW, IM AMAZING OF ALL YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

Scotness here has done what you've been asking about lately -- shot a feature in S8 and shown it on the big screen.

I've seen this film and I am pretty sure it was NOT shot entirely in super 8. Most likely a mix of formats. Maddin almost always mixes formats, including super 8 and regular 8 and 16 (and perhaps even 35). The choices seem to be random as well - as opposed to Oliver Stone, say, using super 8 for a historical sequence, Maddin seems to let it all loose and the final result is a total pastiche and then he'll throw in some had colouring or dyeing of some sequences for good measure.

It's not everyone's cup of tea (including myself by and large) but I enjoyed Saddest Music alot. It' worth seeing for the quirky humour.

Chec out his earlier films and you'll also see dashes of super 8 and regular 8 thrown in here and there

He is from Winnipeg but was in Toronto this past fall teaching at a college so we invited him to shoot a roll for the Super 8 Circus but he didn't respond. We thought he'd be a shoe-in. I am told he is currently shooting a film in Seattle.

Yeah, actually on the DVD there is a behind the scenes docu about the making of the film. Very cool. Used a bunch of different cameras, if I remember correctly, tons of Bauers perhaps. Oddly enough too, I think I read this was one of the big critics top picks for 2004.

......Yes, this Maddin character is working in Seattle at the moment. I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting him.

We have an Ozu retrospective going on at the moment, which I'm thrilled about!!! I'm loving seeing these old Japanese films on a silver screen. I hope lots of folks in Seattle and those passing through will support the North West Film Forum by going to the shows. (or making your movie here!!) Our film industry is undergoing a revitalization thanks to NWFF.... and thanks to the fact that the American dollar is in the toilet :lol: Maybe all the film work will stop going to Canada 8O

that's just so ignorant. i hear it all the time and it's seldom very thought through. it's not very hard for any non retarded person to realize what would happen to this forum if any serious question would leave the front page in just a few hours, pushed out by "stupid questions" and ot posts. it's sometimes happening already. people complain about long off topic threads, but this is worse. keep it interesting. just as you tell people to ignore posts, you can just as easily tell them to refrain from posting, right?
