hi
I'm looking to get an ultracontrast filter for both my dv and super8mm work - but first I want to decide whether to get the screw on type or 4x4 matte box type
I have looked on the internet -and all I can find are the expensive Formatt matte boxes
does anyobody know of any cheaper alternatives?
thanx in advance

Hey Rich,
Depending on what your cams are you might want to check out the Century Precision Optics Matte Boxes. Their not particularly cheap, about $350, but they are about the least expensive that I have found. I use the FH44-00, which fits my wide adapter on my PD-150 as well as the Canon C-8 wide adapter on my Nizo Professional, (I have to pop out the internal ring to do this which is easy). It won't work without using the C-8 on my Nizo. With different sized front elements, its pretty tricky to have something that fits both, you'll have to experiment. The Century fits 2 4x4 filters, neither rotates however. Good Luck!

is the progressive mode full frame rate (25fps - or equivelent if it's NTSC)?

Apparently it fakes the 24p mode unsatisfactorily. My understanding is that it is unusable. Is 30p an option? I thought 30i and 60i, but I could be wrong about that...shralp wrote:Hey Rich,
Nope, wish it was. You can shoot progressive mode for shooting stills with this cam but its just standard 525 interlaced 60i when shooting video. I'm going to sell my package in Feb. when the new HVR-Z1 comes out. This HDV will shoot 24p 30p 50i and 60i if I remember correctly... -Eric
Reiterating: my research tells me don't buy this camera expecting you can do 24p HD with it. YMMV
