super8 cartridge

Post by gilles delage »

I have recently bought a super8 Nizo-soundcamera and want to know if I can use the usual Super8cartridges (without sound, K40 or similar) in this type of camera?

Have the soundcartridges the same look and dimensions as the non-sound cartridges?
Thanks for your answers.

Yes, and no.
You can use either silent or sound cartridges in a sound camera, but they are different dimensions. So you couldn't fit a sound cartridge in a silent camera, but you can use either in your sound camera.

Hello,

Since 1997, the sound cartridges are discontinuated, but you can still shoot with mute cartridge. The dimensions of the mute cartridge is not so long as the sound cartridge but it is compatible. I don't know your camera in particular... but as a generic answer, I would say that most (any) super8 sound camera can handle mute super8 cartridge.

Not quite true, there are silent cameras which take the sound cartridges also. Like my Beaulieu 7008 Pro. But they are few.
