Why not?

Good question Steve, because ccortez was the same poster who ridiculed others about their religious beliefs and about injecting political issues into the tsunami discussion.
There are a couple of posters on this forum who will insult others about their personal beliefs, these posters include Crimsonson, Reflex and CCortez, but then will cry foul if someone responds harshly to towards their viewpoints.
Maybe I'll start offering Super 8 developing at $9.00 a roll, plus shipping. Then I'll just drop the stuff off at Walmart, and collect $4.00 profit per roll..... ahhh..... the possibilities....

That is funny.
When Pro-8mm first started as Super-8 Sound back on the East Coast in early 80's (or was it earlier?), they would on a rare desperate occasion detain a customer in the front of the store while they went and purchased the out of stock camera the customer wanted from a competitor that was nearby.
Chris,
I have to agree with the Super8 Man. We all have to save money while we can. When I pay only 4.24 per roll at Sam's Club with no postage cost, I can afford to buy more K40 cartridges from Kodak.
Dwaynes would not contract to do Walmart and Sam's processing if the vast amount of business they provide is not worth their time. I suspect Waynes benefits more from their connections to Walmart,Sam's and Fuji than to the enthusiasts who want their film back fast.
Also for the non enthusiast Super 8 user(perhaps an elderly person in Idaho), the Walmart processing may be the only way they know to keep using their old Super 8 camera.
Perhaps Dwaynes should offer a lower price for two week turn around.
Where did ccortez insult others as you claim? The thing that I see is that you have a personal vindetta and you are trying to score by making such claims that can only poison the atmosphere.

B&W, and the negs cost me $11-$12 to process, so the $9 at Dwayne's is worth it to me to get everything back and prepped on the same reel in a timeley fashion. There is no Wal Mart near here.. if there was I still would not use them. not just because I don't trust them with my film but because Wal Mart is bad.. mostly for small towns. their profits leave the state, where small businesses spend thier profits in the local economy. they also consume more tax dollars than they generate. I also envision Wal Mart as a volcano spewing the crap they sell, fallout of plastic ash littering the landscape. each Wal Mart that pops up is just another tumor of consumtion.

I was totally surprised when CCortez made the following comment a couple of days ago...

The only sensible thing you've said in a very very very long time.
This person has only been signed up for a just a few months. Even if this person disagreed with my viewpoint about the Tsunami, CCortez's comment seemed to have a personal vendetta based on events from long ago and nothing else recent.
There were a couple of hot and heavy topics a month ago that I completely stayed out of, CCortez's original attack was unclalled for.

Left our small town and went to the big city with a neighbor to help him load some out of town purchases in his pickup truck. Saw one of our local small town girls working the checkout to earn college money. She was laughing at all the business owners that had been through her checkout line just before christmas. These business owners she had served were shopping out of town, yet they complain back home about all the people that shop out of town rather than spend money at their home town businesses. I'm still looking for a retired walmart or sams club semi tractor trailer to park on our back 40 acres to use for storage. If I find one, I'm going to post "Coming Soon" on our old theater sign the day I park the semi-trailer out in our field. Scare the heck out of the local business owners. Let the rumours begin.
I meant to post this thought yesterday: Show me a town/city/county that votes NO to walmart and I'll show you an increase in gasoline expenditures and mileage of those same residents who suddenly travel to that OTHER place to go shopping.

Okay. Port Townsend Washington... I look forward to seeing your data.
People live there? Do you even have a Kmart there? Target? Lucky for you if there are no chain stores there...still, I'll bet a few of the folks there are wearing old navy gear or similar.
Next.

I really don't see the sense in boycotting one of the very few places to take super 8 film. I'm afraid we could actually damage the current volatile eco-system.
However...
I do actively despise walmart. There's always 800 carts scattered around the parking lot just waiting to be wind blown into my precious celica. They always ring up my items wrong. They card people for stupid things like pvc plumbing cement and movies. There's a special cigarette isle that doesn't carry my brand of cigarettes anyway. They make it nearly impossible to buy a tank of propane. It takes 3 hours to get your oil changed if you're dumb enough to trust them with any vital part of your car. I shop late at night and half of the isles are totally blockaked with pallets of crap. If I go there for one part, say a bolt or a drill bit, they won't have it. I can't get it at the hardware store because they've run them out of business. They don't sell paintballs at night when you need them the most. Out of all the people that work at Walmart, the women in Playboy's Women of Walmart still looked like trolls. Stores like walmart screw over the downown economy of small towns. If you want to buy something big you have to practically beg for someone to get you a proper cart to haul it around on.
However...
The more people that shoot on super 8 the better. If you tell them all's they have to do is call Kodak for film and take it to Walmart for processing, you might actually get dumb lazy bastards like me interested in it. I don't think professionals should take their precious footage to Walmart, but I doubt most of them would anyway.
