Yup, your´re right. But just like Roger, some people starts to offer Trasfer Services with WorkPrinter or CineMate in the Web.mattias wrote: a good video camera and that other stuff costs as much as hours of hours of time in a professional bay,
It´s depends of the video camera that you will use to make the transfer.mattias wrote: ...and you still won't get anywhere near the shadow detail and color depth that you get from something as obsolete as a mkIII. i'm really impressed by our host's, jukka's and roger's results but they do suffer in thoese areas imho.
I was lucky to get a 3 CCD DVC-Pro Panasonic AJD-400, with up to 800 lines of horizontal resution, exceptional exposure latitude range, and excellent signal–noise ratio.
Also I make some transfers with a 3CCD Mini DV camera,(Sony VX-2000) and the results were very different (more noisy, limited latitude exposure and less sharper).
K-40 is a critical stock for video transfers due its limited exposure range, unlike negative stock.
Of course, a new generation of Profesional trasnfers, Rank or anothers, is the ideal option.
Carlos.
