Greetings,

I have a chance to buy this camera for $60.00 (it's perfect). Is this a good camera?

Is the lens sharp?

Is this price fair?

thanks,

Al

Hi, sorry cant tell you how good it is.The camera dates from 1974-6, price is the going rate according to my movie camera book..Bauer neovaron lens usually very good... if you can run the camera, check the auto exposure is working.
check all functions work....

It's very nice camera with many different possibilities like shooting speeds:
single frame (animation), 12, 18, 24 and 54 fps (slow motion).
Variable time lapse from 4 fps to 1 frame per minute. Time exposure, reverse knob (for double exposures and other special effects), neovaron f1,8/7-70 mm lens, variable shutter, variable zoom speed, manual and auto exposure, auto-compesation for 54 fps at auto exposure. It's the one of the most versatile super 8 models ever made. You can also use the same mattebox like Bauer A 512 uses and it's also very suitable camera to shoot with anamorphic lens.

It's basically the same model like Bauer A 512. The only bigger difference is manufacture of the lens: Royal has Bauer's own neovaron one and 512 Schneider lens. I personally like these neovaron ones more.

It's the same thing with Bauer S 709 and Bauer S 715, 709 has neovaron and 715 angeniux one. I have the both and I must say, that I like more images shot with 709 than 715, much sharper, neovaron just rules!

The price sound just ok for me (even I paid my own 9 Euros!), but indeed be sure, that everything is working and lens is ok.
Best Regards
