Super 8 to video transfer Poll: I´m surprised

Post by Carlos 8mm »

I´m very surprised with the results of the S8 trasfer to Video Poll in this Page.
Most of you make your own video transfers at home and in a second place many of you don´t make video transfers and use the traditional metod of cut and splice the film.
I must confess that my expectations were others. The most of you can access easily to professional Telecine Services. Perhaps the costs affects or could be a personal choice?

Cost.

I suspect many on this forum are pure amateurs for whom the cost of commercial telecine is prohibitive.

Also DIY telecine is part of the fun. I very recently bought my first DVD player, and already some of my movies are onto DVDs. Now the fact that my home movies of over thirty years ago can be viewed on the latest hi-tec digital domestic device brings me a lot of satisfaction. Especially the addition of a sound track.
New web site and this is cine page http://www.picsntech.co.uk/cine.html

Yes, & I though that you, Carlos, was a pure exemple of DIY fanatic since you personnaly transfer at home the footage you processed at home with a camera you personnaly customed :))
I would love to be also an DIY transfer fan but the fact is that I get pro transfer for free so ...
& I knew so people disappointed with pro transfer because of two resons :
1: Most telecinemas equipped with S8 gates are old-fashionned
2: When telecinemas are more high tech, they usely come from a pro facility where technicians don't like Super8

Matt

PS : Carlos, I can't access your homemade transferts pixs.
