has your Goko 8008 stereo the heads out of order?

Post by Ugo »

The Goko 8008 (and the "clone" Erno RE 904) has the same sound heads like the Elmo gs 1200.
The Goko of one of my friends had the heads worn. So I think: is it possible to change it with the heads coming from a less important Elmo projector? It’s easy to find an elmo ST180, SC18 and so on for few money; of course it has to be stereo or duo-play (the heads are the same).
I have changed the heads and the result is incredible: The Goko works and the sound is better than the sound from my Goko which is new! To obtain this result it’s necessary to regular the trimmer on the master board.
One of my friends (Maurizio Di Cintio – thank you Maurizio!) has sent to me this key:

VR 1: Play Level channel 1 (P/L 1)
VR 2: P/L 2

VR 3: REC Level 1
VR 4: R/L2

VR 5: control Vu?meter 1
VR 6: control Vu?meter 2

VR 7 : BIAS level 1
VR 8 : BIAS level 2

I have discovered the VR14 is able to control the erasing function.
Bye

... I think it's possible to make the same work to the elmo gs1200 too! The perfomances of the original heads and of the others heads from the elmo duoplay are similar.
