Hi,
I was trying to figure out the Macro Zoom on my Bolex tonight and suddenly found I can't see anything through the viewfinder anymore
Anyone any ideas on what might have gone wrong?
Thanks
Alan
Bolex 680 Macro Zoom - problem, can anyone help
Moderator: Andreas Wideroe
Hi, when looking thru the viewfinder is it completely black with the lens cap off? if so make sure you havent accidently operated a control knob near the rear of the viewfinder, its purpose is to stop light entering the viewfinder when you are not looking thru it, cant think of anything else it can be.
There is a Macro-Zoom switch on the side of the camera, as soon as I click this to Macro the viewfinder goes dark, if I switch it back to Zoom everything is ok again.
There is also a switch near the front of the camera marked Macro-SWA
The zoom control is marked from 56 down to 7 then there is a small 1cm section marked MACRO - to allow me to turn the zoom all the way round to the MACRO section I have to move the sitch from Macr to SWA but nothing seems to change - I assume the Macro-Zoom switch at the back has something to do with it but as I said the viewfinder just goes black when switched to Macro.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan!newmanauk wrote:There is a Macro-Zoom switch on the side of the camera, as soon as I click this to Macro the viewfinder goes dark, if I switch it back to Zoom everything is ok again.
You have misunderstood the meaning of that knob.
The name of your camera is Bolex 680 Macro-zoom.
So, if you thought you have some kind of "Macro-zoom" knob near of
your viewfinger, you're totally wrong!
That text is the part of camera's name!
That knob is the shutter for viewfinger, when you're using camera's time exposure, single frame and time lapse possibilities avoiding the light going to film throught the viewfinger.
Bolex 680 model (made by Eumig) is the same camera like Eumig 880 PMA and Revue TM8. It's very nice little camera with many great shooting possibilities, like single frame, 9, 18, 24 and 45 fps, variable time lapse, time exposure, macro, auto, stop and manual exposure, shutter for viewfinger etc.
I own one Eumig 880 PMA (had also one Revue TM8, but I just sold it) and I like it very much.
