Where to buy 16mm color reversal??

Post by jhoneycutt »

Folks...

I know this is a Super8/8mm forum, but many 16mm folks hang here, so I thought I would ask...

I called Kodak (1-800-621-3456) to order some 16mm color reversal film. I was told that all the Ektachrome film stocks are no longer available (single or double perf). So I tried to order some 16mm K-40 and was told that is no longer available (single or double perf). So I tried to order some B&W, and was told they were out of stock. Out of stock??!! I am calling Kodak, how can they be out of stock??

I am going to order some double perf B&W Fomapan from John Schwind.

Does any one know where I can buy some 16mm, double perf color film stock in the USA?

Thanks in advance.

I would buy both 16mm color and b&w reversal film from Jim Peters of Filmlab. Give him a call and see if he still has some in stock.

Now, this could be taken one of two ways:

Kodak sells WAY more super 8 reversal than 16mm reversal due to the lack of availability of those 16mm stocks...

OR

Kodak sells way more 16mm reversal than super 8 reversal since they are like COMPLETELY SOLD OUT.

Jeesh...

Thanks Johnnycut, I appreciate the update...I was thinking I was in the mood for some k40 16 but it appears I will have to wait...

I met with Jim Peters of Filmlab earlier in the spring, when it was first announced that ektachrome was being discontinued. He said he was going to stock up on the stuff, in 16mm and super 8- so he is definitely worth giving a call to.

Dwayne's also sells 16mm K40, just download their order form, which includes the price sheet for their filmstocks and processing.

Hi,

you may try Chambless Cine Equipment.

Visit their web-site: http://www.chamblesscineequip.com/catalog/film.htm

They still offer EKTACHROME 7240 / 7250 / 7251 in single and double perforation (except 7251). Kodachrome 40 is unfortunately only available in single perforation.

I was very satiesfied with their service. In January I ordered 3 rolls from the last batch of Kodachrome 25 in 16mm (double perf.) :-)

I can also recommend Filmlab in Allentown.

16mm reversal film (double perf)

Post by jhoneycutt »

Thanks to all for the many tips. Single perf seems to be easy to find in color or B&W. Double perf is a different story.

I have a call in to filmlab. Dwayne's has no double perf. Chambles has stock listed on it's web site, and I will probably buy some there (Ektachrome). They are on vacation untill Nov. 22, so I am going to hold off on my order until I can call or email them.

I just assumed I could buy K-40 16mm double perf in 100ft spools with out looking around. I was sure wrong.

I spent 4 hours surfing the web last night. And other than Chambles, I found no other color film double perf'ed for sale.
