Strange colors with my canon 1014 XL-S
Hi,
I'vegot a new canon 1014 XL-S in very good condition but i'm a little disappointed by the results. I've test 5 rools of K-40 this summer in daylight conditions (didn't test with artificial light) and even if the image looks very sharp, colors go to green (for exemple, blue sky turns to turquoise in highlights)... In my opinion, the image looks less natural than with my Nizo 4080.
Is it because the filter inside the camera is too old, the lens, or a little problem with the exposition ? The rolls were new, and i don't think it's a laboratory problem...
Thanks if you can help me !
Marc.

Most likely film or processing issue.
I have seen results iek this if the film were stored in a hot place for a couple of years after it was hot and then processed.
However, you may check the filter in/out function of your cam by looking into the lens from the front while flipping the filter in and out.

The problem can also manufest itself if the raw/exposed film has been subjected to considerable changes in humidity which has attacked the emulsion.Check out Kodaks website for information on using and storing film in hot/humid climates.
Also,if you have used the stock straight from a freezer/cool room would upset things a little.

Sounds to me like the 85 filter is not in place. If the switch on the right side of the camera is in the correct postition then maybe its stuck.
As S8 Booster suggested put the lens at full wide angle, look through the front glass and flip the filter switch back and forth. You should be able to easily see the filter moving in and out. I can on mine.

Thanks everybody for your help.
I can see the 85 filter into the lens so it seems OK with the camera.
So may be it's the film ; I put the catridges four months in the fridge before used them in hot places (well, it was not so hot...).
Next time I'll exposed a new roll half wit the the Canon, half with the Nizo to compare image colors...
I'will give you my conclusion !

Dont put the films in the freezer, just the fridge, bring them out a few hours before you use the film..Make sure the film is in date.... It may be worth you while contacting kodak, they are very approachable, certainly in the uk,they can check out the film and advise of the problem, you will get the film back from them....Also, i have found that the canon lens is a slightly warmer lens than schneider optics....

I'm sorry but I do not agree with the last post: Canon 1014 XLS's lens is quite "colder" (more "blue") than NIzo 6080's Schneider. and know what I like it best colorwise (not so for the contrast which might be a little too high for certain appications like telecine). All my test prove that.

Owning the 1014 XL-S, Elmo 1012 s-XL, Beaulieu 5008 MS(Schneider), and a Sankyo 420 XL-S Supertronic the lens on the C1014 is by far the "warmest" with the widest colour contrast ratio and balance.
Can the projector be to blame for the others?
S8->DV transfers are not valid here.
