Hmmm. Something to do with my Treo I guess. I posted it while at lunch. I'll have to figure it out. Looks like there's no way to delete a posting.

I got a Z800, where can I get the hand crank, sounds interesting.
Is the bit that unscrews beside the little green tri-angle?

Yeap. That's it! It is used for the Strobo-Sync or hand crank.

I don't have one, but you probably can rig something up.

id suggest a double super8 camera...all the frame size with better steadiness. and yes, that roll of film is far more condusive to making high quality images compared to its cartridge using cousin.

cheers
double super8!

This looks as one of the better 8mm websites/forum.
For the last few days i've been looking around on the web for info on 8mm film and cameras.

But still have 2 questions.
1 about film and one about a camera

I want to start shooting 8mm, but can only find info on super8 and single 8 film. are other types still available as well. can I se super8 in a double8 camera?

Next to that i'm looking for a camera. preferably manual and with a crank (so it's battery independent. i got a cine lightmeter already). no need to record audio. what would be some of the lower midclass models, that are still sold on ebay reguarly?

a lot of basic questions, but things are hard to find without knowledge.

thanks.
purchase any kind of motion picture camera because you are a freak like many of us that post here ... we spend more time dealing with film issues then most any other issues. it is sort of like a good bad habit, but a habit none the less. film does not give imemdiate results, emaning it must be processed first, and for many it must be transferred to tape or digital. all of this costs money and takes time. thus, it is a self inflicted habit, wherein we blindly apply our knowledge when filming something, then send off the film for processing and during that time try to figure out what we did right and what we did wrong. when we get the film back, the whole roll, except for 1 frame could be entirely screwed up ... but if only one frame is choice, then in many ways it satisfies the fix. naturally, having an entire roll of film come back choice is the ideal fix ...perhaps this is what we aspire for, perhaps this is what drive the habit. perhaps it is the cool gear and the inexpensive deals touted on ebay. only you know :)
