Hi everybody.
Sometimes my Fumeo 9120 gives me problems: I can hear a "popping" noise from the loudspeakers. This only happens with polyester prints and not with all of them. I suspect it might depend on statics but I've never experienced such a problem with my other machines. The problem stops whenever I touch the teflon roller after the pinch roller and/or move the film a little farther from its usual path.
Any clues?
Thanks.
Maurizio

I wish I had that problem, meaning that I owned a Fumeo 9120! :>)
Does your print have a magnetic or optical track? If it is an optical track it
could be due to a slight misalignment of the optical pickup (sensor) and the soundtrack or the sensor may be out of focus for proper sound reproduction. If it is magnetic sound tracks, then it could also be misalignment of the head. It seems that by touching the roller you get rid of the popping sound and by touching the roller the film shifts slightly on the sound drum bringing it into proper alignment. Just a theory not based on actual experience with your machine. Good luck, let us all know what fixes it.

Thank you David.
Indeed I should have said this happens with polyester based prints AND magnetic soundtrack. But the head alignment is perfect: sound quality is excellent on this machine (good frequency response, low hissing noise etc.), save for that popping noise: when I touch the roller youi mention, I simply vary the film path length, not the azimuth relative to sound head gap.
Thank ou for your response anyway.
I wish you can find a Fumeo one day.
