a legendary camera?????
FYI, there is a "LEGENDARY BEAULIEU" on ebay... Seems there is someone else out there that likes to use this nomenclature as well!

Big bicks too. Not bad...

A fairly laughable description.
However it does seem to be commanding a good number of bids and price - and I have to say I don't think the luck bidder will be disappointed.
I used to have one of these and it really impressed me with the quality steady images it produced. The lens I assume is something Japanese (like Chinon?) I am sure it is not Schneider as described by the seller?
Anyway I thought, regardless of who made the glass, it was actually a very good lens. It was also a nice camera to use and hold - not too heavy and well balanced.

Hey, whatever the ebay market will bear. $200 is a fine price for a very very late model super 8 camera...If the super 8 market era was a like a sine wave (imagine if you will), it would have started off low (like Kodak's M2's) in 1965 and then peaked in 1972-4 with the Leicina, Zeiss and Canon (1st gen 814) Nikon entries, and then ebbed down low again when GAF and Chinon were the major sellers in the mid to late 70's, and then finally peaked again near the bitter end in 1982-ish with the Canon 310XLS-AF, this Beaulieu 1008 and the matching Beaulieu 1028, and the B&H MS45 with the same glass essentially.
Ahh, here's wishing you could go back in time and cherry pick a bunch of the close-out specials when video hit the streets.

Certainly not rare, I see them a lot.
I have one, it is a very nice camera....but I wouldn't pay $200 for it and indeed I paid about half that for mine which was in near mint condition (seller claimed only 10 films put through it), boxed with instructions and the original receipt from December 1980.
There are better cameras out there, specifically made by Beaulieu but in France as opposed to those made for them by Chinon. Not knocking Chinon because they made some fantastic super 8 gear...but surely the seller is somewhat OTT in his description of the goods.

I would just like to say that i own one of above said cameras, and i find matt5791's description to be quite accurate, except for weight - Mine is quite heavy. While the frame quality of the camera is good, it never matched up to the quality of my personal favorite the NIZO 6056 Super 8
. i love these cameras and currently own 3 in varying states ranging from perfect to half complete.
