Both of the take up reels I have are in very bad shape plus I could use some for cleaning and editing and things, looking at reels on teh web I havea few questions.
What exactly are Dual 8 reels? Are they super8 reels with the core adapter that lets you use them on 8mm/16mm equipment? Is there any disadvantage to them over just Super8? Will
Is there any disadvantage or advantage of using a steel takeup reel instead of a plastic one? They are a bit more expensive, but I have heard its best to use steel instead of plastic when cleaning film, I guess it shouldn't matter with quick drying cleaner such as ECCO 1500, should it?
I found new steel super 8 reels and cans here:

GAF takeup reel
The takeup reel that came with my GAF has a metal band with claws on it instead of the place to stick the end of the film in. Instead the claws grab the sprockets of the film as it goes around. It works really well at ataching the film to the reel, but just seems like a very bad idea to me, of course it would only effect the leader, but it doesnt seem to wrap as flat....
