The Future of K40 is in...Chechnya!
I don't want to start anymore alarm bells about the demise of Kodachrome K40, and this could just be a gag and prove unfounded, but this has come to my attention:
Krasnorgast, Chechnya Kodak officials are pleased with a new deal which will see the immediate phasing out of Kodachrome Super 8 in the United States and a more feasible replacement soon to be in place thanks to a Kodak/Chechnya agreement. Start-up entrepreneur, Boris Kandisky said that the factory he's set up is small, but utilizes "heavy duty" long mothballed equipment from the 1950's and the Kodachrome replacement will be a "reformulation of a classic high speed reversal colour stock from the golden era with a vibrant, course grain, and that old home movie color that professionals demand". The stock, tentatively titled "Commiecolor" will come with processing paid mailers when sold in the US because, "due to the unique formulation, it must be processed here at the factory." Kandinsky says mail delays will be "negligible" and, provided all proceeds according to plan, Kodachrome Super 8 will be replaced in Europe and the rest of the world soon after. "It's an inefficient stock, unsuitable for professional applications," says Kandinsky, "Our stock looks a lot more like what professionals expect from super 8, and we are working with the experts at Pro 8mm in Hollywood to make sure we do things right."

Demise of K40? Where is the news about this? Kodak is just obsoleting the pre-paid mailer. Not K40. At least, not yet.Clark Kent wrote:I don't want to start anymore alarm bells about the demise of Kodachrome K40
Course grain! That's not what we want!Clark Kent wrote:"reformulation of a classic high speed reversal colour stock from the golden era with a vibrant, course grain, and that old home movie color that professionals demand".

Why is it on this forum, the annonucements of kodachrome being discontinued are posted alot of the time by so called Guest authors????
It is starting to annoy me
, everyone should enjoy kodachrome, while it is still here, instead of forecasting it's demise, until i see an official announcement from Kodak then i will believe Kodachrome is gone
IN the meantime i will keep shooting my Kodachrome and enjoy projecting it's marvellous images
