beaulieu 5008 recommendations?

Post by mathis »

hi all,

i´m new to super 8 and was reading heavily the forum and learned a lot from you. thanks for your input.

any recommendations or concerns regarding buying a 5008 s? i´m curious why this modell seems to be the least valuable modell of beaulieus product line.
are the lenses interchangable to 4008 or 6008 types?

thanks,

If you go for a 5008, go for the 5008 multispeed. They are very silent and have more speed options. Yes the lenses are interchangable with the 4008 and the 6008, except for the zoom and aperture motors; they are different on the 6008.

Check http://www.mondofoto.com/encyclopedia/ for further orientation.

Hi, if you intend to change lenses on any Beaulieu camera, you must have the lens back focus adjusted to the camera body by a Beaulieu service agent, otherwise you wont get really sharp images..Also the 5008s battery nicad pack, unless already renewed, will need re-celling.
If you can,run the camera before purchasing, checking the iris and variable zoom are working ok..

Do realise the 5008 beaulieu is a sound camera, for which no more super 8 sound film is being made for. I suppose the motors than run the sound portion of the camera make noise and its useless to have it repaired if the sound portion doesnt work when you cant shoot sound film. the 2008 is a less expensive alternative to the 4008 and up serieses

I have a 5008s, its a great camera, slightly bulky compared to the 4008 range...If the price is right, then go for one...
