Super16 beam splitter

Post by geffen »

Any idea anyone, where I can get a beam splitter big enough to cover suer16 converted K3 gate?

I'm about to succeed in changing my K3 into Mr. "Keythreestein."
I found it fairly easy to make s16 gate "visible" through a viewfinder.
All I need is a prism covering s16 area.
Plus, if the prism happened to be splitting image, I can mount a simple pinhole video assist in place of a lightmeter.
A little bit more filling to viewfinder's mask, and voila!
Is it worth it though...

...or am I mistaking, and there is more to change to accomplish this task?

well, for optimal results you would have to re-center the lens-mount to super16 too (basically only a real issue with zooms and lenses with tight coverage)... and maybe more importly, modify the filmpaths to make sure the negative doesnt get scratched on the rim.

for non-mission critical work it could be ok though .. good luck
