Fair price for a nizo professional?

Post by Ian »

What's a fair price for Nizo Professional?

I have one that I am not using anymore. It's almost mint. I d say it is but there are a few scuffs from pulling it out of my bag. I used only a few times. It was serviced last spring and I have not really used it since.

I thought is was new when I picked it up.

Glass is prefect.

Shoots very nice images.

Any ideas? I was considering ebay but I have found no nizo pro's on it for few weeks to give me an idea of a good price. I would like to just put it at 1 dollar with no reserve but that always scares me.

Thanks

nizo pro prices

Post by aj »

Well, eBay.de has usually several at any moment. End price is dependent on presentation like $150 - $250. But that is with vague qualities. With know good and serviced recommendation it should end over these prices.
Kind regards,

Hi thanks I live in North America...Canada. I do see the the Nizo Pro's from Europe but would like to get a price from over here. as dealing with auctions from Europe can be a deterent for some.

150-250 just seems too low for this camera. Maybe I wrong?

The last one even similar was a S800 from Saskatchewan that sold on Ebay.ca. No reserve. I really wish I still had the link to that one. It went for $185 US or something like that. No reserve was on it. Had a lot of bidding activity.

Your camera, an even more desirable model with verifiable servicing, should sell well above that.

If I were you, I'd just put it on Ebay with close to the description you just gave about servicing -- tell where -- and the point about the hassle of getting stuff from ebay.de, mostly because they all want wire transfers and larger shipping costs. Which is true. Plus you should post some really sharp photos -- those 800 series Nizos are beautiful pieces of industrial design.

And I'd put it up with no reserve. Make a point of it being no reserve in your description. Should sell in the 3 - 400 range with lots of activity from US buyers and Canada. You put an initial $250 starting bid or other such nonsense, all you're going to get is a last minute sniper or two. I'm basing this on about 6- 8 months of intense ebay scrutiny. But I can't promise anything. I'm just telling you what I'd do with complete confidence if I had that camera and was aiming to sell it.

Ebay.de is no judge to go by for what top cameras sell on ebay! Hell, you read story after story on here about 30 dollar Beaulieu 4008's and Canon 1014's and whatever. I know I picked up my Bauer S715xl for something like a total of 125 bucks Canadian with shipping and everything -- and that was with a wire transfer -- and it's terrific! Those things always sell for 300 US and way up on american/international ebay.

About the only camera which is never a bargain there is the Leicina Special -- much to my frustration. Why they've narrowed their focus down to that camera exlusively may or may not tell us something. I don't know, I don't own one.

Thanks Santo

what you have said is kinda what I thought should be the case. I have been monitoring the Nizo Pro's for a bit but haven't seen any from the US in a while. i know when I was hunting to get this camera they were fetching atleast the prices you mention. I know they are a tougher to find model and very sexy for selling.
I just need some reassurance that it it will hopefully not sell for 125 bucks or something like that.

The cheaper Nizo I saw (within a period of two years) was at 150 euros (in ebay.de of course).
So, for sure, expect 300-400$ in America...

Hey Ian,
I paid close to $400 for mine when I bought it two years ago on Ebay from a guy in Germany. It came in perfect shape with a recent refurbish from a retired factory Nizo tech with a 60 day warranty. It hurt to pay it for sure but seeing that I didn't want it to crap out on me while shooting Sanctuary all winter so it was worth it. Damn homey, why are you selling it?? I'm tempted to buy a second one... -Eric

Hey Shralp,

I am not useing it right now and I also own a 1014 xls. With the 1014 I also have the tele and wide lens. So I will keep that set up. Even though the nizo is so dam sexy and it pains me to even think of letting it go...I have to pay for a lens I just bought (Canon 14mm 2.8 ) for my still camera.
I have started a mountain bike magazine(http://www.modestbike.com) so i can't really do any filming anymore and I also miss shooting snowboarding stills so I am headed back to that.

That's interesting Ian,

I am starting to sell my excess Nikon still cameras to acquire cherry super 8 ones! Essentially traded my Nikon FM (sold it) for a Nikon R8 (purchased on ebay with "free money from sale of FM").
