my super-8 short at the göteborg film festival!

Post by mattias »

hey,

one of my super-8 shorts just got accepted to the göteborg film festival, which is the biggest festival in scandinavia. it's called "sisten i är en skit" (last one in is a rotten egg) and it will be screened in the video shorts section and possibly (that's what they said) as an opening film to one of the features. make sure you check it out if you happen to be there (jan 24 - feb 3).

i'll try to have a trailer up on my web site as soon as i get my web site up and running again after my recent disk crash. i'll also post notes about any other festivals that will show it. i'll submit it to several around the globe, so there's a good chance it gets screened somewhere near you. any ideas for festivals are welcome.

Congradulations on your film being selected Mattias! As always, we'd love to see it. 8) Maybe you could upload it for viewing here?

thanks. i'm a little afraid of uploading it, since i want to control the distribution at this stage. i'm negotiation a distribution deal and television sales, which i want to take care of first. email me privately though and i'm sure something can be arranged. or better yet, give me the contact information for a festival near you and i'll submit it. :-)

25/1 15.45 @ lilla teatern

Congratulations!

For those not in your part of the of the world, post the film online someday if you have the means to do so.

Good luck and happy filming to ya.

The first link, Kortfilmfestivalen i Grimstad may be a bit limited for international contenders but you should contact them.

The others seem unlimited to me.

If I get time slack enough I will go to Göteborg to see your film.

Yes, thank you for reminding me Mr. Booster.

Mattias, if & when you make this short available for sale, let me know as I too would love a copy...looks very intersting, nice stills.

ogdredweary@hotmail.com (yups, cheap bastard e-mail  )

Takk.

P.S. If you go the SVCD route for distribution, try encoding in Canopus Procoder (if you have access that is) on Mastering setting...amazing quality.

they loved it. :-) it was shown in a session with five other films and everybody agreed mine was the best one. lots of people were amazed that it was shot on super-8 as well. a few actually recognized the look but couldn't believe that film was still available.

i'll make a prerelease vcd very soon (no svcd since macs can't play them, neither a few standalones i've tried). still hoping for some kind of distribution deal though, tv and/or art house cinema, so all sales will be informal. i'm keeping a list of interested people, so just drop me an email and i'll contact you when i got something...

MAC - SuperVCD availability: MacVCD for OS X
MacVCD X is the easy-to-use, full featured Video CD (VCD) Player for your Mac OS X system. VCD movies are frequently stored in multiple files (called tracks) and because of CD storage size limitations, are often stored on more than one disk. MacVCD X automatically recognizes this Video CD format, finds, loads and plays the movie for you, automatically chaining the tracks together for you and auto ejecting the disk when it's done. MacVCD X lets you play your movie full screen, in a resizable window, or in a floating window so you can watch movies while you work. MacVCD X is the easy way to play.
