I just dropped off some K40 and some tri-X B&W at Wally World (Wal-Mart). According to the photo lab people, they process it all for just $4.88 a roll. I am not really shure though if they process B&W or not so I will keep all posted. I have usually bought and have had my films processed at Prep Film Services, since they are in my neighborhood.

Step 5: Take yourself and the film to your local Wal Mart

Step 6: Acquire the outlab envelope, its the same as the 1 hour envelope

Step 7: Fill in necessary address, phone number, city, blood type etc...

Step 8: In the "Special Instructions" area at the bottom of the envelope write this"KODACHROME MOVIE FILM K-14"(I write the code every time, eg: KMA 464 for Kodachrome Super 8mm, or KM 25 or KM 459 for Kodachrome 25 regular 8mm, or KMA 459 for Kodachrome 40 regular 8mm)

Step 9: Seal envelope

Step 10: Place envelope in the Fuji box

Jordan

Jorden....

With a print out of the above, I drove to WalMart to drop off a roll of K-40.

The self service photo stand only had one type of envelope. It is a green, blue & red color and is called "Wal*Mart Digital Photo Center". It had a place for Special Instructions on the bottom. I asked the WalMart folks in the 1 hour photo lab if they had another envelope, and they said yes, but they were out of them at the moment. They said the envelope I had was called the "out Lab" envelope. They said the envelope they were out of was the 1 Hour envelope. I did not know which one to use. I asked the WalMart photo people about developing my K-40, and as you might expect, they had no idea what I was talking about.

So, which Walmart envelope do I use? The one hour one, or the green, blue & red Wal*Mart Digital Photo Center envelope?

Thanks for your help.

I would think that the one hour envelopes are for in-store processing of process C-41 35mm films. That's the only sort of processing WalMart does on site. Well, maybe they do APS film, too. I doubt they even do 110. The definitely don't do 120.

You know that there are only two places in the world that process Super 8mm K40. You know that anything that is not C-41 35mm and maybe APS can't be done in the store, and would have to be sent out to an external lab.

How many times do we have to go around on this one...let's make this a sticky...

OK, use the green white and blue/red envelopes at walmart that you see in the aisle...if you have to ask the clerk at the photo lab, YOU ARE DOING THE WRONG THING. They know nothing.

OK, follow directions. Fill out the form found on top of the aisle DROP BOX. in the special instructions, write K40 movie film, process K14 or something to that effect.

It goes to Fuji. Fuji sends it to Dwaynes, Dwaynes sends it back to Fuji. Fuji sends it back to walmart. Fuji's automated machince will tell you it takes like 3 weeks to do this trip.

Check back in 8 days...Fuji's auto phone service will tell you this order has been proicessed for $4.88.

Return to walmart ONE DAY AFTER THE DATE THE COMPUTER VOICE tells you it was processed. Pay $4.88 plus tax and go home a happy camper.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SAY "MOVIE" OR "SUPER 8" when you pay for it.

This is a soup nazi thing. Just give your last name and the slip with the serial number on it. If you do menion movie, the clerk will try and not give you your film, think the price is wrong, or worse, won;t even look for it in the first place. Just let them think theey are smarter than you...

Pay, and leave quietly.

OH, AND THEY ONLY DO k14 (regular and super 8)!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

No B&W NO EKTA, NO FOMO, NO NOTHING BUT K14!!!!!!!!

Enjoy America - just don't ask its people about film ok...it's our secret!

Cheers,

Sorry for the rant...but you get the idea. Heck, my own inlaws don't even know what super 8 is and they lived when it was at its zenith? Hmmm, maybe that says something about them...

We now return to our movie of the week: Deliverance.

Thanks Super8man. I just returned from WalMart where I left a test roll of K-40. I'll see how this works in Portland Oregon.
