So how many of you mentioned something about sound film re-introduction or faster indoor stocks, because regardless of how many times Kodak has heard; I will still hound them about it!

I was happy at how basic the questions were, they got right down to the point and I am glad that someone took the time to do this. And, is going to take the time to read all of the replies; (we hope) of this survey. I would personally love a specifc response to my comments from Kodak.

Cheers,
Jordan

Oops. Sorry. I actually asked for slower but higher resolution stocks. Got to be an alternative to DV and HD when it comes out. I didn't ask for sound film reintroduction. The chances of it going back is nil. After all, I crystal sync and digital recording is just excellent.

The new site looks good. I took the survey, and when I came to the last question, a novel idea occured to me:

Why don't we use Super8 for movie distribution?

I mentioned that some E-6 reversals additions and a home scanner for color negetives would be key. I also explained methods i'm using with transfers, NLE, sound ect.. maybe it will get their wheels turning.

I asked for continuation of the present AFA film goes. No need for sound film (but it would be nice) - I did not ask them for that.

I pointed out that super 8 today is better than it was in 1977 due to the power of the desktop computer and DVD production. I mentioned the glory days are here now and I hope for their continued support.

oh, I also asked for a development of a better pressure plate like that $200 insert I have seen floating around. Way too much for me but if they could offer a plastic version that was as ubiquitous as super 8 spindle inserts, that would be nice.

Anyone care to start a poll to find out how many people fill out the kodak super8 survey. How many members does this site have that could add to the survey :?: Still need to go fill it out myself. Will be doing that shortly.

I filled out the survey last week. I am thrilled that Kodak seems so interrested in the format. They have super 8 on the front page of the cinimatography products section!! Under the things they need to fix, I suggested more advertising. In the last 6 months, I got three people to use the format again! The only reason they stopped was because they didn't know that Kodak was still making it. I also asked for stock similar to the 16mm and 35mm lineup of products. Especially for low light / mixed light applications. I had the gal to ask for sound film or at least sound striping supplies since I love projecting my work. I am not to excited about current video projectors. I thought the quality of Kodaks sound film was much better than what the Orwell tapes have. When I hook up my Dolby digital surround system to my Elmo ST1200 projector, it just kicks arse!!! :D

I think image registration, cartridge improvement, and quality control are the top priorities when filling out this survey.

I filled it out and noted the same things that escubria did. In addition, I suggested that Kodak concentrate more on expanding the availability of reversal stocks than negative stocks, as I think this is important to generating continued interest in Super 8 among newbies. I put in my plug to keep Kodachrome around forever for that "Kodachrome look" and its archival stability, too.

Very true. When my relative watched our telecined home movie in DVD, they asked, "How'd you do that"? Looks like a movie!

This site has more than 1000 members and aproximatly 250.000 page views every month (About 15.000 distinct hosts) which makes it the largest 8mm site on the net.

I've asked Kodak to contact me to make an article or similare about their renewed interest in doing something about super8.

I wonder if this survey has something to do with the petition that has been going here for a couple of years with about 4000 emails to Kodak.

Excellent to see Kodak are asking their customers what they can do to help. Maybe nothing will happen but great to see Big K reaching out to us.

I asked for a faster colour reversal stock (ie faster than K40) with E6 process. Forgot about the small gague scanner...might have to take the survey again under an alias :)
