My new ( but not so new ) short film. The Brandon Brady Story

This was finished just about a year ago. I got professional copies made and entered in some festivals. Not much luck except for a couple in Los Angeles. I have 20 copies I love to pawn off for $10 a piece. Maybe someone could learn a little bit about Super 8 from it. Here are some facts.
Shot all in Super 8, mostly K40, some Tri-X black and white, and some older Ektachrome Type G from the seventies.
Sound recorded on location with a DAT
Shot with a Nizo 6080
Transferred via Roger's DV-8 to mini DV
Compressed to a piece of garbage (the VHS copies are 1,000% better) and thrown on here for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy!

AhAAAA!!!
Yeah, that was funny. Thanks a lot for posting it! Nice work. It must have been a lot of fun to make.
Hope all is well in Santa Cruz...I'm from Arcata and living in NYC now. Miss it lots but I'll be back on the Best Coast soon.
Make more laughs!

I've seen the actual tape of the short and the compressed internet version doesn't really do it justice at all. Also, I noticed that it seemed to be sort of jerky on my computer. I want to clarify that that is only due to the compression used for streaming purposes. The original DV8 transfer we did for the film is smooth and doesn't have that type of motion artifact. At any rate, a funny film indeed.

ha! if you weren't so obviously "intellectually challenged" kill yourself, one might find your post insulting.
Instead it is but amusing (and perhaps a little sad) that you felt the need to open your mouth in such an immature way in the first place.
There is nothing wrong with criticism but to blatantly put down a piece in such a manner just shows your "ugliness".
Besides, beauty & ugliness coexist, one can't exist without the other as a shadow can't exist without the light. Without the ugly we can't truly appreciate true beauty, and there can be a certain beauty in "ugliness" also.
But all this talk is meaningless as the two definitions differ from one person to the other, so who is really to say what is ugly and what is not?
Let us see some of your "beautiful" films kill yourself, as I assume they are so much better, otherwise next time you decide to open your mouth with such rubbish, I recommend you put a gun in it and take your name literally.
regards,
Broken.

c'mon people get creative with your cameras.
wheres the beauty?
ugliness corrupts the heart and mind.
"Eunuch in a harem" ???
Yes, any publicly displayed art is open for criticism. However, I found your comments cheap and does not offer anything but mindless rhetoric [opposite of thoughtful criticism].
Offer insight, offer productive critcism or show something worth our time. If not, what seperates your words from the rest of the anonymous Internet trolling?
IMHO nothing.

Very impressed by the anonymous guests stumbling in with their HQ remarks. Blah.!
No. Very excellent SAS. In my view it compares in every way well with most DV shorts (DV - that is for clean image quality reference) seen regulary on TV.
This film is really good all the way through at the image quality got to be outstanding on the master. Very good sound too. The compression is not visible on my MAC except when images are unrest or there are moving object which is common for all DV compressors used to lower the bitstream for netopia.

Well, the fact that you are still posting means you don't practice what your screen name preaches. Therefore, it is as highly unlikely that we'll see anything in the way of film from you, crap or other wise, in the near future. But then it's always easier to hide behind the computer and critique the efforts of others than it is to actually create something of your own and put it out there for everyone to see.kill yourself wrote:what was that piece of crap film all about?

Lame. Typical of the wannabe intellectual that tries to end a pompous post with something sage and profound and, instead, reveals just how unsophisticated and devoid of creativity he really is. Sorry, dickweed, but I see your type all the time and, true to form, you have nothing of substance to offer to a forum like this. Why don't you go haunt the "Goober", I mean "Google" groups. People are ready to pick a fight there at the drop of a hat.kill yourself wrote:wheres the beauty?

Super8Booster,
Being one of those "anonymous guests" you appear to despise, I apologise if my above post caused you (or anyone else) offense.
Contrary to what you may think, I have been frequenting this forum daily now for almost 6months and granted I don't post often, but I am happy to just sit and learn until I feel i have something worthwhile to share.
My above post was not that "worthwhile" I guess, but you know, I just hate it when some pseudo intellectual feels the need to validate themselves by putting down someone else... Everyone has different tastes, just because you personally dislike a piece of work doesn't make it "crap", so IMO if you don't having anything constructive to say, why say it at all?
regards,
Broken
