If only Duke knew that home movies are still being made in the twenty-first century, huh Super8Man? Maybe Kerry's still making home movies too  Now some ultra-liberal Democrat is going to chime in and say that Bush is stupid and Kerry is God. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. It makes one wonder though, what kind of a tour of duty Kerry had if he had time to re-enact all of his battles with the enemy. . .

I though for sure someone would pick up on the quote:
The films shot by Kerry's own Super 8 millimeter hand-held movie camera have the grainy quality of home movies.
Ouch...Obviously, they have never been transferred with a workprinter.
THough I did just do a transfer job where the super cheap camera streaked the film and not the workprinter...I thought for sure it was me until I looked at the film in the editor...STREAKED original footage (meaning the film moved in the film gate of the original camera!!!).
Cheers,
m

Yeah, I noticed the grainy part, but figured it was either the stupidity of the author (coupled with some poor transfers that formed a basis for the description in the article), the poor metering capabilities of Kerry's cronies, or one of those ESO-X films that had grain the size of cannonballs. I doubt they were shot on K25
It's interesting, I've heard people recently tell me that DV has better resolution than the stuff I shoot on VNF DR8, so perceived graininess caused by TV lines not being in phase with the film grain, coupled with poor poor transfers of the 70s proabably all play a part. I think even VNF looks 10x better than video. Of course, the transfers I use are equal if not worse than film chains of the 70s, so unless I'm actually projecting film, I guess they're right.

As long as Kerry re-enacted what actually happened, that's nowhere near as bad as if it never happened at all. But I wonder if Kerry ever acted with the idea of a re-enactment to follow, now that would be bad.FilmIs4Ever wrote:If only Duke knew that home movies are still being made in the twenty-first century, huh Super8Man? It seems like some American presidents have an "heroic" moment in their past. George Bush Sr. survived a crash landing, there have been others, makes you wonder if they get embellished as time goes on.
Vote for Kerry as he is a super8 man like the rest of us, as if he saw a memo regarding it being axed he might wage a war on Kodak and all the FBI agents would storm the Kodak HQ.
Perhaps he should mention Super8 on his Manifesto!!
"I have a dream that oneday all people will be filming on super8 yes I have a dream vote for me!!"

The Drudge article is a little off base.

Beaching his boat, Kerry jumped off, chased the wounded insurgent behind a thatched hutch, and killed him. Kerry and his crew returned within days, armed with a Super 8 video camera he had purchased at the post exchange at Cam Ranh Bay, and reenacted the skirmish on film."
