Night Vision, Neg Vision

Post by Lucas2 »

Was experimenting last night, I attached a night vision Bino lens to my super 8 camera, and shot some V500T neg stock, I was filming the night sky, out here in Texas its an amazing view. Am trying to catch some of those UFO's that keep being sited. Also put my camera on my telescope mount, its motor driven, so can move with the movement of the earth. Will let you guys now how I got on. would be happy to hear from anyone else who may have done anything similar

Filming the night sky has been discussed hier somewhat. You are likely to need a camera with a B setting. Like the Nizo 48x,56x,80x series. You will not get any stars on film with 1/40 or such...

Also when you track the stars while exposing you will not get any sky movement. Unless there is a meteor or UFO passing by... Which is unlikely. But if you keep the camera steady you will get streaks quite soon. Depending on focallength. So, you have to do half speed tracking. Or track the stars and reset the camera to the exact startpoint after every frame.
Kind regards,

André
